Edit Prompts

Write effective instructions for region edits.

Prompt Structure​

Edit prompts should be clear and specific:

[Action] [Target] with/to [Description]

Examples​

Replacing objects:

"Replace the chair with a mid-century modern armchair in walnut and gray fabric"

Changing colors:

"Change the wall color to a warm terracotta"

Adding elements:

"Add a large fiddle leaf fig plant in a white ceramic pot"

Removing items:

"Remove the coffee table, leaving empty floor space"

Effective Edit Prompts​

Be Specific​

Instead of "make it better," say what specifically to improve:

  • ❌ "Make the room nicer"
  • ✅ "Replace the lamp with a brass arc floor lamp"

Include Details​

Describe materials, colors, and styles:

  • ❌ "Add a rug"
  • ✅ "Add a cream-colored wool rug with a subtle geometric pattern"

Reference Context​

Mention how changes relate to existing elements:

  • ❌ "Add plants"
  • ✅ "Add trailing pothos plants on the bookshelf"

Common Edit Actions​

Replace​

Substitute one thing for another:

"Replace the dining table with a round marble-top table"

Change​

Modify properties of existing items:

"Change the sofa fabric to navy blue velvet"

Add​

Introduce new elements:

"Add a gallery wall with black frames above the sofa"

Remove​

Take away elements:

"Remove the floor lamp"

Modify​

Adjust characteristics:

"Make the window larger and add sheer curtains"

Tips​

  • Match the style of changes to the existing room
  • Consider lighting when changing colors
  • Don't try to change too much in one edit
  • Use undo if results aren't right
